Mike was lino at the time unfortunatly he said he was about ten yards behind play also he didn't see it, not his fault at all, Thinking about it I always wondered why it was called FOOTball, totally my fault silly mistake, impulse action. Sorry boss
Who was lino at the time? Did they get a load of abuse?
I know smurf thats why it is so frustrating being sent off, glad you saved it though, shalbourne shite!!

Trouble is Beenie it was about a yard over the line.
All i Can say to that is taaadaaa Check out my jazz hands, should have been wearing white gloves and painted my face black.................ooops crossed a line there, shame the ball din't when i handled it.
Hey I'm all for what Beeny did - especially knowing that Smurf would save the penalty. Much rather have gone down to 10 men and dropped Neil back into midfield and someone back into leftback but keep the 2 goal lead than drop to a 1 goal lead and still have 11 men on the pitch. Goals change games, getting men sent off doesn't necessarily do the same. If we'd been 5-0 up or 5-0 down then maybe not, but at 3-1 to be pegged back to 3-2, especially against a team that had come back from 3-0 down against us once before, I say well done Beeny but pay up son. After Sinless at Blackpool last year that's the 2nd most expensive use of your right hand eh?

As for whatever Paul did, I wish I'd seen it, but if the ref said he stays on the pitch, that's okay with me. Perhaps looking at the age of the player he thought it really was the hand of God.

I'd just be interested to see what happens with Beeny's ban - if he'd punched someone or done a bad tackle then fair enough, but to miss 5 weeks for a hand ball seems a little harsh to me. There's a slight chance that the ref will understand that and not send it through - but that's clutching at straws a little. Will have to wait and see.

No info about Sunday yet, but as soon as I have anything I'll let you all know.
Sorry shane and for all those who received the email, got sent it myself just forwarding it on............................Matty your absolutely right Paul should've got a red card, so in that case Paul you owe me £14 for the privilege of not getting sent off.
Competition for places mate!!
Beanie was on the post and the ball might have already been in. You were on the six yard box and you slapped the ball over the ball as if it was volley ball!!

These games are things you need. Have you heard of Leisure Suit Larry? A classic old game which has been brought back to life where you take control of Larry Lovage and try to pull birds who are way out of your league, playing mini games and solving puzzles to gradually get into their pants. Well we're promoting the game online and are producing two mini games to play during the build up to the launch of the game. One is called Lingerie Challenge and the other is called Butt Bongo Babes. This is what I was doing the video/photo shoot for last week with the luscious ladies and the underwear and the wiggling... But don't panic, once they're complete I shall post the link up on here asafp...
Beeny - Bill Gates - Email - Prick.
Mr Bellamy what on earth are these games your on about.
Just been playing the trial version of Leisure Suit Larry Butt Bongo Babes and Lingerie Challenge - you boys are gonna love em, as soon as they come out you'll be the first to get them.
Yes you're right Neil it's 8.30pm for training. Dave has also asked people to remember that it's £3 this season as he lost money last season from the weeks when a) people forgot to pay and b) not enough people turned up. Any surplus he makes from it being £3 rather than the previous £2 will go towards new balls from Neil and Dave's (well fucking everybody's really) shooting at home matches...
Just finding out for real
I thought training was at 8.30?
Yeah - any other Arsenal tickets you can get mate, you grab em...

Tuesday, September 28, 2004

Just read all your and I've forgotten what I was going to say now. Not to worry, it was probably going to be something sarcastic.

Im not available for Oct 24th, Ive got a ticket for, oh, er, Man Utd vs Arsenal, sitting in the Champions Section of Old Trafford. Prfobably wont be at training this week either, Ive got a course in London so not sure what time I'll be back.

Craig reckons he can start training soon, give it a week or two. However, with the squad getting like it is, I might try to put him off to save my place... Joking, of course. I dont have a place to save. (One of you would have said it anyway...)
Ah okay, I gave him 7 cos I had to get the thing in the post... Sorry.

The other thing I need to warn you guys about is that I've had the first invoice in for pitch hire (£192) so I'll need to start collecting money off you. On Thursday night I'll bring my book and let you know what's owed - don't think anyone's too badly off yet - and then if you can bring it on Sunday (happily just after payday) that'd be great. Cheers.
The lowest mark without having to file a report. I thought he was pretty poor. Kept stopping the game for minor things. Plus, he sent Mr Green off when really with a bit of common sense he should have given them the goal and James a booking at the most.

Missed Paul blantant hand ball, when he should have been sent off!! Phew! Credit to there team, most teams would have kicked off big style for that!! Expect for their fat striker. Who called him every name under the sun and didn't get booked, just a ten minute telling off.

Didn't book Mike for having 4 (FOUR) different linesmen during the game.

Disallowed a clear penalty for us.

Didn't give anyone a talking to even though they hacked Neil down 10+ times. Same with the ripped shirt and elbow in Colins face.
What did everyone think of the ref on Sunday - if you had to mark him out of 10...?
I think they put the write up in for last week's game mate - I certainly didn't write anything for it. Still, got your name in this week, "winger Chris Brown was rubbish."

As far as I know it's 8pm on Thursday up at Park House school - depending on numbers turning up we may have to have a rotational team-based tournament rather than trying to get 7-a-side in that hall, but we'll see. If you hear nothing else, be there for 8pm.

Any news on Newy's ankle - will he be okay for Sunday or will he need a rest?
aright all, great result at the weekend. Just what we needed after a couple of dissapointing ones, hopefully season should start from here.
Anyone know who put the write up in for last weeks game, as they gave my goal to lewis in the paper. Gutted.

Im available no probs for Sunday, Shane can you let us know where abouts this game is on Sunday in Grove, as it is easier for us lot in Reading to get straight there.

Also available for training at last, now its a bit later, can anyobe confirm is it 8 or 8.30pm.

Well Dave Lewis may be topscorer with 4 but Paul Curtis holds the highest Goal:Game ratio. Dave is currently on 1.33 goals per game and Paul is on 1.50 goals per game. Even Browny is on 0.67 goals per game which is good to see.

In terms of Man Of The Match, the early front runners are Smurf and Paul, proving that you're never too old to show em how it's done. All that bloody boom boom boom music you lot listen to these days, that's what's to blame. I just want to go somewhere where it's quiet enough to talk to my friends and I don't have to queue up to get a drink. And the language too, it's all effing this and cussing that, no one knows how to spell anymore either, they don't bother teaching it nowadays, they just show you how to text people on your mobile telephones and send photos of each others willies...
Dont forget to mention that I set up Daves first, collecting the ball in midfield and ran for the heart of their defence. after going round 1 or 2 players lack of oxygen caused by the alcohol the night before kicked in so I knocked it to Dave who inturn went round a player or two then finished in the far corner. Might like to mention I spent the other 89 mins trying to get rid of a hang over
Weird I hadn't seen that one before! Cheers mate I shall tweak as necessary and get it sent.
Bellers i made at least 3 great saves plus a penalty save to go with it and i had 3 assists, was the midfield general and ran the line.
Is that any good for a write up.
What the bloody hell is going on?

Right f*ck it I'll do a write up for a game I didn't see. Does anyone have any set-up claims to either Paul's goal or any of Dave's?

Right, so Beeny is away this weekend, but will be at training tonight, that's fine. Bit early in the week to have the game confirmed from the other team but it might be an earlyish start on Sunday if we have to get to Grove. It's not as far as previous B&B fixtures but still a way out.

2 weeks to heal a broken bone Smurf? You been seeing Eileen Drury again?

3 to 4 weeks would be excellent Matty, and I wouldn't worry about squad sizes too much, it always tends to work itself out in the end.

Any news from Craig or Frewy?
Shane I'm unavalible this weekend sorry for confusion will be at training though. what the hell happened there john i blogged about a million times??

Monday, September 27, 2004

Im away this week any way as Shane knew and i will be fit for the following week and no fucker is having my position, unless they want to fight me for it!
Did Beeny Text Shane yesterday? And does he know a good keeper?
Shane as i texted you yesterday just wanted to let you know I'm avalible until I'm banned or whenever i'm told i'm not playing. Hope Smurf is gonna be ok...I know of a excellent Goalie played at a really high level good shot stopper and very powerfull.........................Any guess's??
New Year? I'll shoot myself if it takes that long! I'm hoping to see this new Bowen Technique people ASAP, waiting for them to get back to me. They say they can treat this type of muscle injury in about 3/4 sessions.

I might be putting all my eggs in one basket, but I'm hoping for 3 to 4 weeks, if this treatment works. Hence why I'm asking about the number of players we seem to have/getting!! Obviously everyone has to have games at some point, so the competition for a place is looking harder than ever, especially as my general fitness is probably lacking compared to most!

If this treatment doesn't work, then who knows! But i'll have to save up before i can afford anymore!
Well the player from Shefford has filled out a signing on form and I've sent it in so he's officially signed on. However, he also said that he plays as striker so when I heard that Neil had done his knee in I told him that he was playing on Sunday. He said he'd have been coming down to watch anyway so he was looking forward to playing - then he didn't turn up. So we'll see what happens with that one.

Then Dave Lewis' mate (forgot his name) who has been down watching us for the last few weeks asked yesterday whether he could sign for us too. He knows what he's up against in terms of squad size and selection policy, but he's still keen, so he's going to come along on Thursday to training and we'll take it from there. Means we've got a squad to envy Chelsea FC, but we've already got a few players out injured and I think the quality of the division has improved so new players, although not needed, are still welcome if they think they can add to the squad.

Other than Danny who happened to role up as a striker just at the right time and would have started on Sunday if a) Neil had decided that his knee wasn't up to it and b) he'd actually turned up - he and other new players in this season will all face the same issues in breaking into the team. That said, at the moment the team is yet to settle down, what with holidays, injuries, my selection techniques and general availability, etc... So it's all still to settle a little.

In a way, I'm probably looking more to next season, if Beeny's going to Essex, being realistic I'm not really able to play out on pitch anymore, Paul Curtis can't go on forever (or can he?) and Hilly shows no sign of it but must be at the stage now where he's considering how much further he intends to go - that's quite a chunk potentially not continuing and I need to make sure there's a future beyond the current season.

Basically, I'm not changing the way I do things, we've been here before with a large squad - I've not gone out looking for new players (never have actually) and we've got a large squad (always have had actually) and it's always worked out in the past so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this season. If people start getting itchy about lack of games etc then we'll talk about it and I'll see what I can do, certainly don't want to lose anyone, hopefully it won't come to that for anyone.

What about you Matt - if you had to put a timescale on when you realistically think you'll be back to play, are you looking at the New Year?
Matty you seemed to be paying a lot of attention maybe you should do the write up,dont forget to mention how brilliant i am
Browny on for Jonny S

Adam on for Newport

Beanie on for Paul

Newport had a golf ball size lump and bruise on his ankle, looked sore but hopefully he'll be ok for next week. Are we signing two more players? One i read on here about Smurfs mate. And that bloke on the side line said he's signing for us.

Who was subbed off/on on Sunday then? I know Beeny went on, probably for Jamie or Colin, but who did Adam and Browny replace? And is anyone doing a write up or shall I make it up?

Who ever does a write up it has to include " Shefford showed great bouncebackability "
Somebody want to do a write up for the game and I'll get it sent in to the NWN? I can only write up the first few minutes - I tell you what we played some fantastic football in the opening seconds, must have really put the wind up them and made them think they were in for a tough 90 minutes, good to see. I'm a big believer in the psychology of the game so that was excellent stuff.
So do you think lifting that 2-pinter all on your own did the damage then Smurf?

Great result yesterday gents - I've heard from a couple of you that we "should have scored more" but I'd rather have a 4-1 win and miss a load of chances than a 4-1 win where we scored every chance we made. Sorry I couldn't be there to see it past the first few minutes, but my commitments that have kept me away for the last two weeks are now finished, so I will be back on your arses next week. Sorry as well that I missed yet another Paul Curtis goal, and yet another Dave Lewis hat-trick, to finally nab the top scorer spot. Sorry I missed Beeny's triumphant return to the squad. Anything to help my squad selection is well appreciated James, and you saved a goal which might have made the end of the game a little more stressful for everyone, so well done. Obviously you knew that Smurf would save the penalty.

As for a goalkeeper - I was gonna play next weekend anyway cos Smurf was away whatever. However after that we have some tough league games coming up, so if anyone knows of a decent keeper who wants 3 or 4 games in a row then get him in touch and we'll sign him up. I don't mind playing on Sunday but would rather have a proper keeper for the league games. That said, 2 of our best league victories have come whilst I've been in goal - probably due to the defence not wanting to let any shots come towards me - but I'd rather have a proper keeper if anyone knows of one...

FU*$ S^*T DAM BO$%^S
Well played today lads that was much better than last week,we worked as a team and for each other well done.
As i was about to leave the Halfway i started having bad pains in my arm and had a job to move it.
Popped up Basingstoke A&E and after x-rays revealed that during the game some time i fractured the radiul head in my arm.(Elbow joint for those that dont know)
So i have got to have it in a collar and cuff sling for a couple of weeks.
So i played some of the game with a broken arm what a hero.
Well played again lads.

Oh and Beenie...................................... Ha Ha

I thought I recognised her.

I've had her.
And for those who may be wondering - the girl 2nd from the left in the photo is Holly, 23, London from the new Maxim "Little Black Book"...12th girl in the booklet. Lovely young lady she is too, far too good for you lot. Great model. See you Sunday.
Don't be a player hater. I was paid to be there, paid to direct a photo shoot, paid to explain what poses I wanted those luscious ladies to pull. Paid to explain that they needed to do it again because they'd taken their bra off too fast. Okay hate me, but don't expect the grin on my face to waiver for one second...
Shaner, you're a popular guy at the moment. Do you want everyone to hate you? DO YOU? No? Then stop making us hate our jobs!
Congratulations The Ghengis's.
Bring on Sunday i am like a coiled spring.
Have i got my new Kit for Sunday Shane?

This is what I spent my day doing yesteday - watching these 4 lovely ladies posing, wiggling and undressing. Some days you just don't have a problem getting out of bed. Posted by Hello
Nice one Michael - what are you naming him?

My work, love my work, for those who don't know what I was up to yesterday, please see the photo I will be uploading in just a few minutes...
Congratulations mr and mrs ghenginator. Thats the trilogy of Ghenginators now! What was the score last sunday? I read the report and saw the goal scorers. Who's this new player that scored? Browny or something...
Congratulations mate! Although although bloke in the world means an even greater percentage of people pushing you for your right back slot...

Just checking something...
What C section?
We never train on Thursdays, so no
Friday 11am, Paris
James' team won 56-14 away at Gosforth
We did good
I bloody hope so

Tuesday, September 21, 2004

When does Mrs Genghis go in for her C Section?
Is there training on thursday?
What time and where are we meeting on Friday?
How did James team do this week?
How did we do this week?
Was it a joke about getting Stevey T out of retirement?
So for everyone who doesn't already know mikes missius goes in for her c section on friday!! For anyone else QPR up to 11th 3 points behind sixth. always looking up. Shane I'm back this week. How come all the change around of games? Looking forward to getting stuck in this weekend. heard that the result on sunday wasn't bad, but also heard it was about the same amount of effort. Not sure if its right didn't think we wanted to play like we did when we got beat 5-0.
Smurfy disaster strikes! No sooner had I put the phone down from speaking to you than the council phoned up and cancelled the key thing, so you don't need to go there on Thursday now. Sorry mate. It may happen next week instead though so I'll see if you can do it then. Nice one.

Browny notches! Hopefully that'll spur him on a bit eh?

6 it is for the ref. Cheers. In terms of Thursday, you'll need to be at the changing rooms at Northcroft for 12 o'clock. If I drop the existing key round your old man's tonight can he get it to you by then? Then you just swap keys and she'll show you how to use the new lock (dunno how difficult it can be). Then that's it. You're not allowed to touch her.
Browny got the first,Crabbman the second and i'd give the ref 6,if any one disagrees tough shit.Any news on picking that key up.
Who scored for us on Sunday? Need to fill in the team sheet.

Also, what would you give the ref out of 10?
Good point, let's meet at Victoria Park and head off from there. Meet at 9.15am

Why do I get the feeling that's not gonna be the last time I say the place and time?

As for MK Dons, I heard that McLeod was defended by the MK boss for his wasted chances. Sadly, and not wishing to defend them at all, if Dave or Neil missed 3 easy chances and then scored a winner I would defend them to the hilt as well. Like you say, the warning signs are in the fact that this muppet just had 3 clear chances. Well done to the Colchester fans though for giving the Franchisees some stick (pun intended). Must be horrible for the MK players, but then they know the options open to them, not as though they're the only club in the country...

Monday, September 20, 2004

Colchester were awful on Saturday, but so, to be fair, were the MK Dons. The Dons supporter was in fine voice, but soon got shouted down with inevitable chanting to do with Franchises, Hockey Sticks, and Which clubs the fans will support next week.

However, the match for me will live long in the memory due to 3 amazing moments of ineptitude by the Dons striker, McLoed (who handled the ball for their goal, incidentally). Firstly running through on goal after the defender had slipped (running diagonally from the left), he shaped to shoot, fell over and the ball would have gone out for a throw in near the half way line, but it was also woefully short of power. There was a fair amount of laughter from the Barside, but nothing compared to the hysterics which followed 30 seconds later, when Mcloed chased done the Col Utd keeper, (who tried to control a backpass), tackled him, ran through on an open goal...and fell over again, landing in the net as the ball went out for a goal kick. Brilliantly, about 3 mins later, he was again through on goal, kept his feet, and hit it straight into the keepers arms. It was the funniest 5 mins I have ever seen at a football match, and it would have been even funnier if it weren't for the realisation that Colchester had let this muppet have 3 clear chances in 5 mins.

Fair mix of Wimbledon Shirts and MK Dons shirts, 2 MK Dons scarfs, 1 Womble, 0 Hockey Sticks.
Alright nice one I'll try and let you know tomorrow cheers mate.

AFC Dons through to the 2nd qualifying round of the FA Cup. Playing the mighty Dunstable FC. Meanwhile Milton Keynes Tossers managed a win against Mr Sills beloved Colchester, thereby costing him a couple of murder runs at some suitable point. We are led to believe by his weekly ramblings that Colchester are a potentially quality side, so why they would give 3 points to a confused bunch of want-away misfits in the guise of a valid football club stolen away from top flight football by moneymen seemingly intent on seeing how much money they can lose whilst driving a club down through the divisions into non-league football and beyond I have no idea.

I hope, Mr Sills, that you are not intending to go and watch Colchester play away at Milton Keynes Dons and are instead intending to watch some local football that day - thereby giving your money to a proper club that can do something useful with it. Lots of discussion apparently with away fans wondering whether to away matches at Milton Keynes. They shouldn't, their clubs will still win anyway and they won't have given the scourge of football any of their hard earned cash. The players will know why they're not there and will play harder to prove the point that nobody wants clubs like MK Donds to exist anywhere in the game, so the fans aren't letting their club/team down.

If you know of any League One team fans, make sure they're aware of the move to not spend money on or around MK Dons - if you ignore them, they will go away.
Not sure i think he plays in midfield or up front ask my old chap about him if you see him.
I could go and pick the key up for you if you wanted im only based up by Chieveley services,so if you cant get anyone i dont mind.
Strange request - is anyone available to go to Northcroft on Thursday at midday to collect a new key for the changing rooms? Get to meet a nice young lady called Cathy...
What position does he play?
Danny Curtis ( no Relation to our old and young ).
He is a good player was at Hungerford got mixed up with some wrong uns got onto the gear and went astray, sorted his self out now according to my old man he is ok now and clean.
Goes back to the old philosophy - it's okay to lose matches, you can still enjoy it if you lose, but only if you've given everything you've got and still been beaten.

I'm there Sunday. The details have changed though, we are now playing away at Shalbourne - if there's anything to bring back happy Shefford memories it'll be visiting that ground again.

We're gonna take a break this Thursday - no training. Our last two training sessions have been pretty much a waste of time because of running out of light and, to be honest, I've been knackered and unwilling to drive people on. It's difficult for me to be standing there yelling at people to track back etc when I'm not able to myself - I'll see how it goes when we move indoors, but it might be that I need to hang up the boots and just assume a coaching role so that I can yell at you without feeling like a bit of a hypocrate. No, I don't think I'm a big animal that lives in Africa. I can still play in goal if needed, but maybe being out on pitch is a bit ambitious and we've got a big enough squad these days to compensate. So if anyone (not you Genghis) feels they'd like a shot at being reserve striker, let me know.

So, here's the deal...

1. The Travellers Friend defeat, I totally understand why we didn't look so hot in the second half - but on the positive side until our heads went down we were faring very well even into the wind. Looked good going forwards and created some good chances. So it's only been 1 bad performance in a row really.

2. Hampstead Norreys - I'll take responsibility for Sunday's defeat, I should have been there or I should have pushed us all harder in the last two training sessions, can't expect everyone to just turn up, switch on and play to the level needed in this division. No matter how good you are everybody still needs direction. Forget about it and lets concentrate on moving forward.

3. No training on Thursday, let's have a rest and catch our breath.

4. Sunday at Shalbourne we start our season. But beware, cos if performances don't show a rapid improvement, we may alternate weeks indoors with weeks outdoors... And it's getting cold.

Forget Sunday, think about Sunday. I could have worded that better eh?

Smurf, who's Danny Thingymajig that knows your parents and wants a signing on form?

Sunday, September 19, 2004

Not Bad report Mr Sills,we did not look interested, not releasing the ball and we just did not do the easy ball at all.
We looked like a team that had been thrown together at the last minute, didn't know each other and never played with each other.
We really need to sort ourselfs out and start doing it easy and playing the football we all know we can play.
Well boys what can we say?

Two weeks in a row now where we just havent played well enough. There seemed to be a huge gap between midfield and attack, too many long balls being played, and defensivley we didnt seem to be able to clear the ball properly, inviting pressure onto us and letting the ball bounce too often. I just didnt feel we had enough urgency in our game, noone seemed to want to get the ball when we had throw ins or corners, and I think that when we do have the ball in attacking positions, we need to look at our options more, as we seem to be shooting when we should pass and vice versa.

Morning Shane.

Friday, September 17, 2004

10am at Brimpton on Sunday. Squad of 12 players available so just the one sub.
Can someone tell me what time it is Sunday please
I dont drop anything anyway im awesome,
Im feeling a tad ill this morning.
Aww Smurf you should see your new goalie top! It's effing swish - will try to drop it round someone's house so you can try it out on Sunday... It's got rubber bits to help the ball stick!
Ha Ha Ha its 2am and i have a drink problem

Thursday, September 16, 2004

Yes, Banks play at Brimpton, Brimpton play at Brimpton, I think Travellers Friend play at Brimpton and Hampstead Norreys play at Brimpton. We play at Northcroft - I have a new kit in my car! Woohoo!
So let me get this right,we are playing Hampstead Norreys at Brimpton, that is where Banks play, is this correct i am so confused.
Hampstead Norreys play their home games at Brimpton, so it may not be too bad.

Training at Henwick tonight, don't forget.
My Fellow team mates,we must take in to consideration the traffic on sunday due to Newbury Show when we take the journey north for our encounter with Hampstead Norreys.

Wednesday, September 15, 2004

Shock horror as AFC Dons dropped points for the first time this season after taking a 2 goal lead into the last 2 minutes of the game... Leatherhead pulled 2 back to get a point, making it 7 wins and a draw so far. Still as unbeaten as Arsenal, I wonder who'll turn out to be the best team? Hmmm.
Right you bunch of non repliers, Im off to the sunshine heart land of Essex for a few days. I shall return Saturday night, ready to avenge last weeks shambles and destroy Hampstead Norreys. Either that, or I'll get bottled in a club after refusing an offer of drugs, having fought of hordes of lower class women (£5 a time, they pay you), and I'll also probably have to field a million and one questions as to whether its true that someone (Beanie) is actually moving TO Essex...
Nige! Great to see you on here mate, especially with your pseudonym of 'The Cat'. Did you all know that Nige used to play in goal for Great Britains Street Hockey Team? Rumour has it that Stevey Tab hopes to take the sport up, and get to national level by this time next year...
Nige mate, if it makes you feel any better...

...no, I have nothing. Kind of petered out there, should have thought it through a bit more. Sorry.
Hello fellow bloggers. Just thought i would say g'day. Not going to say much as i am still hiding from the press after sundays performance. They have been hounding me!!

"Two Andy Gorams, there's only two Andy Gorams..." - Kilmarnock fans to the Rangers keeper after he had been diagnosed with mild schizophrenia.
I have not played it no, I have had a quick burst on The Sims and decided it's not really for me. Depends what type of game you're into - you're more of a thinking man, like myself, but I just don't have the time to give to a Sims type game (though that said I devoted a lot of lunch hours to Sim City 4 earlier this year) so I just don't know. If you're into the type of game then definitely buy it, it looks slick and funny and highly involving. But if you didn't really enjoy The Sims then I don't think Sims 2 will be drastically different in terms of style of play. I know that you can choose your own genes and then those genes follow you throughout the game - so if you start as a ginger then your kids might well be ginger and so forth, but if you're abducted by an alien you're kids may also have tentacles. Also, your Sim can die, but you then follow on with any off-spring you've had, so there's more avenues to the gameplay than ever before. Sims Fans will love it, it will be the best thing they've ever seen, ever. For me, just a question of time not being there. I will probably have a stab at it here, but won't necessarily get too involved back at home... So to sum up, definitely buy it, it's great.
Damn you and your Lawton advertising ploys Mr. Bellemy, I am becoming incresingly tempted to buy The Sims 2... I wasnt a big fan of the first one, bit boring...what would you suggest? Have you played it?

Here's the link to the results forecasting website - it runs monthly scores and an overall list so you can see how you're getting on even if you haven't been doing it from the start. They guy who runs it is planning a load of updates too to make it even better. You'll notice that I (Triggerfish) am in a staggeringly impressive 3rd place overall and a well-positioned 22nd for September, ready to storm the leaderboard with next week's predictions.

Can you send me that virus too?
No geese, a few chickens of the headless variety, but thats about it.

I suspect matt may have something to do with the wind up, Mr Curtis...
Did I miss something to do with chickens and geese at footy yesterday?
That's fuckin weird stuff. I'm very confused. So did you really give him your email address or are you just being wound up? Or am I? And who's Marjorie?

Mr Smurf I couldn't offer you the caretaker management position as you weren't there. Crabbeman and Lewis will do a fine job I'm sure and the team pretty much picks itself next week so the only decision is when to make the substitution and exactly what change to make.
I think its a cunning ploy by Shane to make both Dave's feel a sense of responsibility, and therefore not go out and drink heavily on the saturday night before...
Thanks Mr Sills,I thought you might have offered me the role in yours and Ghengis's absence Mr Bellamy.
He lost money on it?! How do you think he afforded his MG?!

I would have thought you would have out Smurf in charge for Sunday...
Why would you eat it when you could feed it to your geese?
Right, for next Sunday you have Dave Lewis and Dave Crabbe in charge. Substitutions shouldn't be too much of an issue cos you'll only have 12 players there. I will suggest a starting line up on Thursday night but the final decision on the day of the game will be Lewis/Crabbeman's.

For this Thursday we are at Henwick. Next Thursday we will be at Henwick, after that (30th September) we will be starting at Park House school. It will be £3 this season as Dave lost money through it last season - any spare cash will go towards spare footies that end up in the river, or maybe a kitty for drinks at Christmas? Something like that anyway. We may have the new kit being delivered this week - but I'll let everyone know.

You Keep Geese?
Ask him if he'd like to sponsor us next season.
Fair comments about yesterday, the early goals really damaged us, but I dont think anyone worked an ywhere near hard enough. From a midfielders perspective, I dont think we put in enough effort, either helping the defence or helping the strikers, too much stranding around and watching others play the game I think, so we'll make sure we put that right next week.
James, your leaflet for alternative back therapy was much appreciated, and I can assure you I shall be using it. So it wasn't wasted! I had an appointment booked with the other one and can only afford one a week!
Gutted about yesterday, I don't think they are a better teams than us by a long way, got to make sure we give them two damn good hidings in the league. Bunch of plebs.
The board have given me their full backing.

After I'd calmed down a bit yesterday afternoon (and needed a lift home from Steve the landlord) my reaction to the game was two-fold...

1. Who cares? It was a dreadful display and there's not much we can take from it other than I didn't think Travellers Friend were that good at all and I'm not scared about facing them in the league. If either of our early chances had gone in the game would have been completely different, they got the luck with the wind and had it in the first half which, as we learned so effectively against Shalbourne, is better than having the wind in the second half when you're already down.

2. Bit disappointed with everyone's application yesterday, dunno whether it was cos of a big Saturday night, or because it was the cup, or because let's face it we let in some embarassing goals 'early doors' and they have a massively damaging psychological effect - probably a combination of all of that and more. But I think that not much more belief and not much more desire would have got us back into that game and I reckon we were easily capable of pulling back a 4 goal defecit against them - they really weren't anything special at all.

But it's not the first time we'll pull out a performance like that from nowhere and I guess it won't be the last. Lets put it behind us and concentrate on Hampstead Norreys - a match for which I pleasantly surprised yesterday to find that our squad will be more normal than I had expected. HN weren't altogether awful last season, we only beat them 1-0 at home and 4 or 5-2 away, so it won't be easy but a good chance none-the-less to get another 3 points in the league. Then the week after that we might have an easier tie against NTS Casuals in the Bowness Cup.

5 - 0 Hmmmmmm, Shane have you managed to get the smell out of the back of your head yet, oh and my agent told me that your contract is due for renewal and it does inclued helping with the nets at whatever cost.
Well Shane, over to you for your match analysis...

Friday, September 10, 2004

Shane looks like you had mattyitos last night hands glued to hips moaning about the fella you let run through and score. as for you atkins if you weren't a cripple I'd cripple you myself. so much for me giving you leaflets for alternative medicine never again my friend!!!
What about if I keep throwing bottles of beer onto the pitch in the place where I want you to be? That way I can get a 90 minute sprint out of you? Actually, that would only be an added 5 minutes on your normal performance at the moment and would cost me a fortune. So fuck it.

As for Matt, Genghis kicked me last night, you're not missing much - and I can't really explain it but it seemed to take about 10 seconds for me to fall over, thereby convincing everyone that I dived. I didn't, but if I'd been watching I would have thought I did. I think I just about had enough time to cover Beeny's zone before I had to fall. But, until your back is completely better, not just well enough to play, then you can whistle for a game, cos there's no point having you back for 50 minutes just to lose you for half a season again.

Fair play if Newy thinks he'll be okay, I'll just have to name the subs and see how the game goes again.
I was out with Newy last night and he said he will be there, so im assuming he thinks he is going to be in a fit state to play. Beer festival might rule me out though, think my concentration could be somewhere else, either that or we could fill the water bottles up with beer and keep someone running backwards and forwards to the tent just to ensure they are always topped up. I would offer to do this myself, but I get the feeling you wouldn't see me for the next couple of hours.
Sorry.

I wanna play... Fucking stupid fucking back.... Fuck again.

I'm almost missing Ghengis kicking me in training.

Fuck.

See you on Sunday.
Fuckers!

Just wanted to let people know - at the moment we have 5 subs again on Sunday, which means again that 2 people won't play. I am dropping myself to cut it down to 4 subs, but that means one person might turn up and not get a game. It's Newy's birthday on Saturday night, so if he's completely fucked then it might be him, but I'll let him make that decision rather than making it for him.

As for team selection, as it's only the second game of the season, I will be juggling the squad a bit to let some of the guys that were sub or didn't play last week get a game this week. Consequently, obviously this means that some guys who did start last week won't start this week.

As everybody knows, nobody can be faulted for their performance last week, everyone was on top form, so it's a shame that people have to lose out, but alas the rules state only 11 players on the pitch. Also, with the players who were sub/left out last week, it obviously leaves certain positions more at risk than others.

I'm sorry to have to leave anyone out, but someone has to make the decision - if last season is anything to go by it doesn't take long before the squad seems to sort itself out naturally. Take next week for example, when we have about 6 people available to start the game.

I know everyone just wants to play, but last year there was only Browny who didn't really get much footy at all. Bear with me for a little while until it starts to sort itself out, then if you're not getting as much as you feel you need, we'll have to discuss it. I've had those discussions in the past, and with people who are still here and playing some of the best footy they've ever played, so don't despair if you starting on the bench on Sunday.

Cheers,

SB
Henwick? Wha?

Apparently there's a beer festival on at Northcroft this weekend. Someone's gonna have to run the touchline to keep our strikeforce on the pitch...
Hmm. Thanks.

Tell ya what, I'll ask someone else!
He's not lying.

Travellers Friend were due to play Shalbourne last Sunday but there was a problem with the pitch so they had no game. That means this week is obviously their first game of the season, meaning they will be fired up, but might also be a bit nervous. Take from that what you will, but I take it to mean that we just need to play to our strengths. From watching one of their games they seem quite committed and keen, but I guess we just have to treat them like every other team in our division the first time we play them - as an unknown quantity. All we know is what we're capable of so just keep feeding Dave and Neil up front and keep breaking up the opposition's flow. That's what we do. Bring anyone on. Except maybe Hermitage again.
Now you know how I felt last season...!

Who are we playing on Sunday? And where will we be playing?

Thanking you.
Looks like Blueball have been entered into the wrong division then - either that or it's time to be very afraid of Vodafone.

Naff training last night, everyone (including me) seemed a bit knackered and lethargic for some reason, no point pushing it when everyone's like that. I got a good workout having to carry Beeny all game, but fortunately my shooting was on top form to make up for basically playing with 4 men...
"Joke of the day"

One evening a man was at home watching TV and eating peanuts. He'd toss them in the air, then catch them in his mouth. In the middle of catching one, his wife asked a question, and as he turned to answer her, a peanut fell in his ear.

He tried and tried to dig it out but succeeded in only pushing it in deeper. He called his wife for assistance, and after hours of trying they became worried and decided to go to hospital.

As they were ready to go out the door, their daughter came home with her date. After being informed of the problem, their daughter's date said he could get the peanut out. The young man told the father to sit down, then shoved two fingers up the father's nose and told him to blow hard. When the father blew, the peanut flew out. The mother and daughter jumped and yelled for joy. The young man insisted that it was nothing and the daughter brought the young man out to the kitchen for something to eat.

Once he was gone the mother turned to the father. The mother said, "That's wonderful. Isn't he smart? What do you think he's going to be when he grows older?!"

The father replies "From the smell of his fingers, our son-in-law!"

Shefford 3-1 Post Office

Wednesday, September 08, 2004

If you like I can bring those miniature footies with me so we can inflate them and they can play with them? What more could they ask for than to amuse themselves with my little balls...?
Has anyone been able to post today? I've tried but they're not coming up. Bastard blogger.
Shane how many rpm's can you get up to on your powerball?

Tuesday, September 07, 2004

What the hell is going on here?!

Paul has no muscle problems, Shane is giving Churchill-esqe speaches making me well up and want to wear my Shefford shirt to work, and Beeny seems to be suggesting he is moving to Essex! After all I've told him about it!

Shefford is the best Sunday league team I've played for, no question. Admittedly, before Shefford I had only played for Clacton Town Under 12's in 1993 (Yes, I was 11 in 1993, I know some of you bastards were planning your pension payments then). My crowning moment was when I dived across the goal line at a free kick to head the ball off the line...before carrying on and headbutting the post, leaving me concussed! This was the same team which got thrown out of the league thanks to the manager and two of the parents (one of which was the managers cousin's husband) fighting about team selection on the sideline two weeks running.

Enough.
Um... Essex?
Paul I totally agree with you, this is the best team i've played with, spirit williness to win and they know how to drink too. Must admit it was very flattering but the thing is nobody else wanted to play so they asked me. not cos i'm any good. glad to say that shefford will be my last team i play for.................until next season when i won't be able to travel from essex to play. but lets make this season like it was our last....................(sigh)
"If you cut me, I bleed red." Should have put that on our new club badge...

I can understand that signing for a Saturday side is an attractive prospect, but two games in a weekend is quite a drain on your time. If you're prepared to do that then I've got no problem with it at all - might even improve someone's game (that's not a dig at anyone!) There's a greater risk of injuries but then some players go their whole career without injury and some players get injured on their debut, you can't predict it or stop it.

However, if the Saturday games start impacting on the Sunday games, that can cause problems - we've got a big squad of players wanting games on a Sunday and I've built the club by trying to be as fair as possible with team places - even if that means going out with a sub-optimal team. That way everyone knows (more or less) where they stand. Would seem a shame to lose out on a place in a Sunday team that Dave reckons is good enough to beat a Saturday team anyway...

It's obviously nice to be flattered and knowing someone wants you to play for them, but I want everyone I've got signed on to play for Shefford more than anyone else can ever want them, cos I was here before all of you (other than Hilly and Genghis) so I've seen you come, train, stay and grow into a pretty damn strong team and blokes that I'm happy to share a beer with in some of the dodgier bars of Blackpool. And I've seen some people come and go as well, Shefford's not everyone's cup of tea the way the club works, which is fine, I'm not after popularity, I just want to play and watch good footy and enjoy myself while I'm at it.

Now if someone like Thatcham or AFC Newbury showed signs of interest, I'd gladly pack your bags, wash your boots and come and watch, cos obviously you'd get me tickets to the Directors' Bar.

Besides, the way we reacted to conceding a bit of a soft goal on Sunday, I'm not sure there's many clubs in the world that have the kind of spirit we showed in that instant. Julie had tears in her eyes. Matt's Dad started singing the national anthem and Patch (Smurf's old man) shouted "bloody useless the lot of yur!" (s'not true - he came up to me in the second half and complimented me on the way you were all playing, not much higher praise around...)

Training on Thursday usual time/place, but after that I think we should consider moving indoors again cos it's getting dark earlier and earlier...
Just to add my name to a long list, Fantastic result great start and just what we needed, the way we played didn't look like the result was going to go any other way, lucky goal for them!

Paul it's not cramp or any other muscle disorder, It's rigamortis it happens when things get old they rot.

neil I don't think I'm going to sign for burclere, I don't think i will be able to play two games over the weekend and not really sure if its morally correct to play for two teams, i now have shefford blood in me and felt very guilty sunday afternoon, like i was having an affair with another football team.....oh erm not that i have affairs with other football teams, just ours....shit dam it . Never mind.
"Nigel is available for both games" - John Sills 6th Sept 2004.

Monday, September 06, 2004

Well, doesnt seem much point in putting my comments on the game on here, looks like its all been said already. Good start to the season, good performance, and I personally thought if it needed it, we could have had another gear or two to go up into.

I think Im right in saying that Nigel told Crabbeman that he can now play both games...

BUT THATS UNOFFICIAL, DONT QUOTE ME!!!!
You should be. They're out there. You are not alone.
Well played yesterday lads, was nice to see every one up for it.
There was no moaning, back biting or winging, every one was encouraging each other and talking to each other. We are looking more and more a team every game well played again.

P.S Ha Ha Paul you geriatric old fart
Found on some random website...

"A remedy for leg cramps that is borrowed from the world of accupressure.....when your leg cramps up, squeeze your upper lip between your thumb and index finger, and hold for a minute or so. I don't know the physics or medical reason of how/why this works, but it does."

I've been told that the same action can stop a sneeze when you feel one on it's way. I'm very bored.
Nice debut Neil, made me laugh. Well done for making the right decision though with your ankle, lets hope it clears up nicely.

As for Mr Curtis senior, once a muscle has gone to cramp it will be susceptible for a few days to cramping up again - especially after such a hot and humid day. It's lack of salt and fluid that does it, so you need to get as much water in you as possible - stupid amounts of water, til you can piss higher than your own head and be ready to go again in 5 minutes time. Also salty food, chips, peanuts, crisps, to restore your body salt. Lucosade Sport drinks and tonic water (apparently the quinnine helps) are good things to take. Keep stretching it out regularly and keep massaging it too. Warm baths and deep heat. I'd advise you to take the strapping off if you can bear it as this will be keeping the muscle condensed and you really need to stretch it out.

It's not unusual for a badly cramped up muscle to re-cramp or just generally ache or twinge for a couple of days afterwards, skip training (or just come and do gentle training) on Thursday and we'll maybe sit you out on Sunday as it's a cup game. But we can see nearer the time.

I'm sure there's nothing major wrong with it, maybe your body has worked so hard all your life to not get cramp that now it's decided to call in the debt. The worst thing, and pray this doesn't happen, is when it decides to cramp up while you're asleep and you wake up thinking you're being attacked by aliens. I'm not joking. Way back when I broke my leg up at Shefford, while it was healing it would keep cramping up and I'd be woken up by a loud CRACK noise as the bone pushed together cos the muscle around it was spasming, accompanied by the acute pain that comes with it.

Lucosade sport, salted peanuts, massage, stretching, warm baths and deep heat. There's your cure. And no chasing Lisa around the house when the kids have gone to bed...
Paul whenever I have had cramp, its only lasted 30mins max, after that its been fine. Dont quote me on this but maybe when you get older and you lose the ability to heal quickly it does take alot longer and requires being strapped up. Doesn't sound right though, but im no doctor
I am really up for this season, and dont wont to be sat about with an injury. I didn't play for them in the end yesterday. Got on the pitch and done one run and realised that it hurt more then I thought so came off. Great debut, cant beat that.
Okay mate - it's only a cup match so don't worry about it too much, but next game if you knock your ankle then don't play another match in the afternoon yes? I'm not having my squad depleted cos some Saturday club can't get a team together. Especially some saturday club who can't beat Post Office who we cruised past. Haha! We rule. Rest it up nicely cos you look so hungry for it this season I want you and Dave playing as much of every match as possible - no defence will find it easy against you two. The PO back 4 certainly won't sleep well the night before the return fixture.

But yes you're right everyone did their bit and that's how a lot of their moves broke down, one player slowed them down and then another arrived to tackle them, we then seemed to be magically there for any balls that spilled out - a sign of a team really on top of their game.

Any news on whether Nigel is available on Sunday?
I agree, yesterday was a really good team performance. Everyone done there job and we just kept going to the end and never dropped our heads when we went 1 down which was good to see.
Shane I may not be able to play this week as I hurt my ankle yesterday and I am unable to put any weight on it at all at the moment. I will let you know how it feels nearer the end of the week
It only struck me yesterday afternoon what an absolutely top class header that was from Paul Curtis to equalise - if Wayne Rooney scored that one it'd be on the opening credits to Match Of The Day for an entire season, what a corker, whoomph get in.

Obviously I remember that one and I remember Paul's second to put us in the lead, especially the trail of destruction left behind by Hurricane Lewis (one goalkeeper and two defenders down, one other defender on his feet but requiring treatment), but I can't really remember the build up to our third goal - I know Dave powered it home from the left hand side of the goal, but I can't remember how we got to that point in the first place.

The reason I can't remember is probably the number of similar attacks that we had right throughout the game - we were awesome, I'd love to see the Sky Stats on that in terms of posession, shots and shots on target, I think it'd tell a pretty convincing story, and to be fair to Post Office they weren't even that bad a side.

I think Hilly kept their tall striker very quiet - you can't beat a guy like that in the air but you can make sure that he doesn't do anything with his feet and Hilly had him measured up very early on, nipping in to stop him getting the ball in the first place or being right up behind him when he did get the ball so he took too long to control it and got swallowed up by our marauding midfield.

I thought Dave and Neil were superb, working together and individually - a number of times I commented that I would hate to be a defender with Neil around as he chased down their defence as they were trying to bring the ball out of their area and nicked it off em. I then had to laugh in the second half at the look on the poor defender's face who was 'marking' Dave Lewis. So many times the ball came to Dave's feet (which was great) and each time the defender gave a great big puff of air as he realised he was seconds away from being 2 yards behind him running back towards his own goal. God knows how many chances we created, too many to count.

Other than that, everyone was at or virtually at the top of their game, control was good, passing was good, when the three subs came on I didn't notice any downturn in the performance while they got up to speed with the game, all three got involved straight away and Jamie Taylor began feeding the forwards with some lovely passing, Newy began knocking their midfield around and stopping any moves they were putting together alongside Crabbeman and Colin soaked up everything (not that much by that stage) and calmly played the ball forward to people's feet, as you'd expect.

Storming performance, don't know other results yet but I should think PO will fare better this season than they have done previously so it's nice to take 3 points off them in such a convincing manner - the way everybody reacted to going a goal down was more than I could ask for, no moaning, people actually trying to claim responsibility for it ("my fault" "no, it was my fault") and everyone patiently knowing that we had goals in us - all in all it was a very intelligent and mature performance, made me proud.

Thankyou

Don't mention it... Posted by Hello
Recent news suggests that we will begin the season playing on the normal pitch at Northcroft, the one we have used for the past few seasons. I think that when the cricket season is over they will then mark out and set up the new pitch there and we will move across to it.

On my fixture list I have W Okey down for reffing our game on Sunday. I've given him a call and will contact Mr Cleeves if necessary.

We have a new key for the changing rooms, Matt went to see the deaf woman at the council yesterday to get it. I don't know whether they still need someone to open the other lock, or even if there is another lock, so I guess we'll find that out when we get there on Sunday morning...

Just a couple of things Mr Bellamy.

Is the new pitch in action at Northcroft?

Are the changing rooms going to be open?

Eccy Cleeves is reffing he is class " Play on its a mans game "
What a strange man!
This season's signed on Shefford FC squad is:-

Adam
Andy
Beeny
Browny
Colin
Crabbeman
Dave Lewis
Genghis
Hilly
Dave Frew
Jamie
John
Matt
Neil
Paul
Shane
Smurf
Tony

Which brings us up to last season's 18. Hopefully Craig will be back around again before too long and will have to take it easy with his back but at least back around. Good news that Jamie Taylor has signed on for us again as there's no doubt he's a quality player.

The bad news is that until everyone starts going on holidays and stuff it presents me with a bit of a selection headache. Mr Frew is out for Sunday after some axe-man clobbered him last night and his old ankle injury has flared up to the size of a cow. Still leaves me with a 15-fit man squad to choose from for the first game of the season, meaning someone obviously won't get a game even though they turn up on Sunday. I have 4 subs, including me, so if I can name 4 then we'll just see how the game goes, but if the ref makes me name 3 then I'll have to make the decision there and then. Expensive gifts will not be shunned.

I'm hoping to leave it like that for this week as it's the first game of the season, then we can start to sort things out after that - to keep things in the tradition of squad decision making that I've always tried to employ, it will be likely that it's some of the new/returning squad members that might have to start on the bench or sadly sit out this week. Bear in mind however, that we had the same size squad last season and very rarely did I have to leave people out completely in the end, so it's not all doom and gloom.

Post Office will be a different team from the bunch of f-wits they were last season, so expect a tough challenge. I have no doubt we'll put goals past them, but I expect them to threaten us a bit more than they might have done in previous seasons, so I want everyone turning up switched on and ready to go. We're going to have to work hard this season to match last season's achievements, but then we worked hard last season too, so anything is possible. It's alright to play against good teams, cos we're a good team too, remember those close matches last season between us and TVS and us and MDM? Shows that we're capable of coming up against the best in Div 1 and holding our own. Bring it on.
You alright James?

Now then now then, How much money do I owe Shaner? Have I paid my fees for this season? Is my £10 deposit for Blackpool a gonner? Whats the meaning of Life?
S'quite funny - I've been looking at search engine techniques and have been using this blog as a tester. We come up quite well you know, but sometimes we appear in some weird places...

everything-u-need.co.uk 'careers' section was obviously looking for sites with words like "job" and "training" in it, but look what happens halfway down their listings... http://www.everything-u-need.co.uk/careers/job-training/county/Bedfordshire/town/Shefford/

Anyone who hasn't brought their signing on form back to me yet needs to do it on Thursday night - I'll then drop them round to Mick Gurr's house and that is the only way that you'll be able to play on Sunday. If you don't bring them back on Thursday I might not be able to get you signed on in time to play... At the moment we've only got 9 players signed on. Could be an interesting game. Reckon we'd still win.
Freekin' 'ell looks like the 19th is going to be a bit of a toughie then!

Mr Green you owe £31 from last season, not too bad, and you're already paid up for the signing on fees for this season. If everyone who hasn't paid me signing on fees yet can bring £15 on Thursday that would be most helpful as lets put it politely - club funds are almost existent.

Seems its a team holiday or something on the 19th September im not availiable either
