Morning all,

Great training last night (from a midfielders point of view), I was very impressed how much training we did, and only a small match at the end(for those that weren't there, we looked at shooting, passing, heading, quick feet etc). Really looking forward to Sunday, lets make sure we get off to a good start, play the passing to feet football we have been doing in training.

By the way, I think, I think, that, no, hang on, let me just check...yep, the Reds won the match last night. Anyone know who got the winning goal?
Smurfy it's not okay I can't take training tonight after all. Someone else will have to do it.

Sorry.

Tuesday, August 30, 2005

Smurfy if it's okay I'll take training this week, been a while since I've done that and as it's the last one before the start of the season I will make it motivational to the extreme. Plus it means I don't have to run around so much cos I'm getting old.
Post 4217 Lads just to inform you,we are away to Newbury Post office this sunday away at Ecchinswell.
I am not here for training this week as i will be working away so if someone wants to look after training please do.
I have sent everyone a text message saying all this information so if you would kindly return the message stating if you are available or not it would be appreciated.
Well gents (this is post 4216, by the way), we're in the final week before the season...

I hope we are all ready to go, firing warning shots from the start. Is it Post Office we've got? And is it at the Fortress or somewhere else?
I am polish so I should get one ticket. If you like I will wear black leather.

Friday, August 26, 2005

Paul I begrugding accept a ticket but only on the condition that you allow me to shout cheer and get a little bit drunk!!
Shane can i be in your band please?

Thursday, August 25, 2005

I recognise the one at the bottom...

Crimewatch.

This is the band that won it...
Good training last night lads - bottle of champagne at home watching telly it was cool. We should up it to twice a week...

Mind you i am in Newbury and it is pissing down
what about all them poor buggers who didn't get on the ark?
Bit of rain never hurt anyone!
I am around tonight, but just looking at the weather I'm wondering whether a pub bonding session might be better for squad morale?

I can't really remember that many times training in the rain while I was in charge. Seems a bit weird. I remember freezing cold and fog, but not really getting that wet that many times.

Ah well, I've brought me stuff so may as well see it through.
Im not around either tonight gents. Mirroring what matt said good luck for the first game and we will be back for the game on Sept 11. I would have worn white tonight.
I won't be training tonight guys. Going on holiday tomorrow and haven't done anything towards sorting out my stuff yet.

If I had have gone, I would have worn red.

Good luck in the first game (Post Office I think it was), a good win would start the season nicely.

A 0-0 that we should have won. I don't remember them having a shot from inside the area, and it should be remembered that we had Matty and then Frew in goal, with Crabbeman playing Centre Back for some of it. I nearly scored with a header, so that's should tell you the flow of the game in itself! Their keeper played well, but at times it was us attacking, them kicking the ball out and us coming at them again, time after time. I got the feeling that i we had got one, then the proverbial floodgates would have opened.

Rob did well to be fair, ran through and turned well to evade the keeper, leaving him on the left hand side of the goal, about 6 yards out, with just the MASSIVE GAPING WIDE OPEN NET to aim at. He managed to hit it with his left, and dragged it right across the face of the goal and out for a goal kick. Cue head in hands all round.
So was it a 0-0 that we should have won? Or a 0-0 that we should have lost? Or a fair result?

I'm flying back from Manchester on wednesday but still hoping to make it back for training. If the weather is as crap as they say it's gonna be then we'll see who's got the heart for it and who hasn't.

Someone wanna talk me through Rob The Dane's sitter?
Morning Lads,

Good performance yesterday I thought, the 2nd Third was the best. We never really looked like conceding, just a shame we couldn't get the ball in the net. As Arsene Wenger would say though, 'there were lots of positives to take from the game and the team can be encouraged'

The dictionary defines "virgin" as "a person who has not experienced sexual intercourse".
The question is Matt, how many of them are yours?????
The dictionary defines Thatcham as: A small town, popular with 15 year olds for under age drinking, moped posses and the words init' and fuck. With the average girl giving birth at 14 yrs old the population of 'Thatcham' is rapidly increasing at the speed of the average Tornado.

Thatcham is now regarded a safe place to bring up small children, since the departure of Chris Brown to Reading in 2003.
I cant play on Sunday. You cant, shant and wont make me! Unless John Sills is on the opposite team. We've got a good record against him.

What colour top you wearing on wednesday shane?
The dictionary defines a tornado as "a localized and violently destructive windstorm occurring over land characterized by a funnel-shaped cloud extending toward the ground".

Glad to have helped.
Not to sure of this game myself,Crabbman rang me about it last night which was the first i heard about it and with thursday night being my main drinking night i still havent got a clue to be honest with you.

Answers on a postcard
How come John is informing us of friendlies now? He can't even win matches at training who put him in charge?

Thursday, August 18, 2005

Bla Bla Bla Bal Bla Sills bow down to th echampions
We've got a game on Sunday, 3:30 Kick off at Henwick, against Thatcham Tornado under 19's or something like that.
I'm not even going to talk about it, it didnt happen as far as I'm concerned.

Pathetic.
Oh My God Thats so petty.................Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Matty did you guys win again sorry not at training smurf I'm still recovering from sunday and monday football!
Ah that's nice to hear - that's when you know the God of Football is smiling on you. So in effect I won too. Superb.

Flu? In the Summer? What you have is the Ebola virus my friend, get it looked at.
HEADLINES: SILLS TEAM SCORES MORE GOALS BUT LOSE OUT UNDER NEXT GOAL WINS RULE
Sorry couldn't make it last night, being sick!!! (making up for Sunday). No on a serious note i've got the flu. See you all next week.
Sorry I had to duck out last night guys - just tweaked my back a bit but it was enough for me to be pretty much useless in the game and as I watched the "let's all wear white tonight so we can all play together mwah mwah" team swarm all over my team mates I figured I was better sat down watching.

Then I realised I was watching the girls team more than you lot. Then I realised they were producing better quality stuff. So I left.

I wish I had Paul Curtis' immunity to injury, but then he wishes he had my familiar bone structure and magnetic personality, so we're both cool with each other.

Shame no friendly Sunday, but if teams keep pulling out of the league we stand a better chance of winning something...

Wednesday, August 17, 2005

lol - Tony was wearing girls underwear
Yes ok Matt you had to take the story to far didnt you
Smurf was driving so I drank his 2 pint man of the match pitcher....
I scored an own goal, sorry.
Bonus. And I scored 2.

That's our cue to go on a cup run then...
Bowness cup latest.
We were due to play SCA ( Kings Head ) in the first round on the 18th September.SCA have now resigned from the league so we have a bye now.
Well played all and i got man of the match

Monday, August 15, 2005

Hey but Dan at least you weren't sick...
Well played again yesterday lads plenty of plus points to take from the game,we started to play some good football at times on the floor and simple.
The chat was good a lot of talking everyone making it easier for each other so i am happy with the way everything is going at the moment.
Could everyone who is training this wednesday please bring £15 for the signing on fees as the team has some bills to pay before we commence the coming season.

By the way we have a bye in the Berks and Bucks Cup

The Lakeside Newbury Sunday League is now on:
www.yellowjersey.co.uk go to Berkshire then Lakeside League

I have applied for a password and will update photos profiles and reports all our fixtures, results and tables will be on there as well so one for you to check out.

Wow must be my longest Blog ever
Ok, good game yesterday morning, but refuse to play 2 games in the one day. After leaving Bradfield I got stuck in traffic for 45 minutes trying to get to Newbury to pick someone up, finally got out of the car to find that my legs had seized up and didn't want to do any thing, any way...

2 hours later lost 3-2 to under 18's, absolutely knackered, now I'm having problems walking, calf's, thighs all hurting

NEVER PLAYING 2 GAMES IN ONE DAY AGAIN!!!
Hey that doesn't sound too bad then. Very promising. Tougher test again next Sunday then, should be good for fitness...
Lost 3-1. But plenty of good points to take from the game, and we had the better of them for spells of the game. The first 20 minutes we pissed all over them.
The goals we conceded were soft, and not goals we normally concede. Tony go on the scored sheet! Well worked free kick with Lewis, and Tonys hard and low (his words) cross swerved superbly into the top corner !!

We actually tried to play football! Got it on the deck, passed it around and worked for each other. Used the wings, made Danny and Brownie do plenty of running!
Struggled a bit in the second half, Lewis went off - supposedly injured, although he was still intending to play for Bureclere in the afternoon! So Hilly went up front, and to be fair worked his socks of.

Classic quote from Beenie when Hilly went up front:

"That's like putting a steam train on a roller coaster" - You might of had to of been there!

All in all a worth while friendly, everyone had a good game, worked hard so fitness should be improved. There pitch has got to be the best in the league, flat and in perfect condition.

I'll never make a journalist.

- I predict England will sneak another win today, another close one though.
Yeah how did we get on? Tough test? Partick are a good side, always put a lot of effort in but occasionally dodgy at the back. My prediction - Australia pull a draw out of nowhere...

Talk me through it, gents...

Thursday, August 11, 2005

How petty is that?! Congrats, you beat us reds for once, us gooners are distraught. Interesting, Matty, that you didnt mentioning losing the shuttle runs...

Good training though, the passing to feet is good, and I though our crossing and shooting was better than last week as well.
Really enjoyed training last night seams that the team has gelled again and we are the fighting force that was shefford two seasons ago, Must add to matty's commiseration we did win after all! First time for everything hey matt?

The reds lost for once!

see you all Sunday!
We will have enough matthew no problems, and yes you were awful at shuttle runs
Yeah I enjoyed last night, was a good work out with some good exercises as well. My calfs ache this morning, but I quite good apart from that. Although I was shocking in the shuttle runs.

Commiserations to the losing team in the game...

Have we got enough players for Sunday? There seems to be quite a few that aren't available.
Good session last night boys i feel every one is looking a lot sharper and i am hoping that the easy football to feet that i have been drumming into you at training, which we are starting to do, will be taken from training sessions and into matches as we will rip teams apart with it and hopefully enjoy doing it.

LONG GONE IS THE HOOF !!
Another good training last night - it's all about 50% leadership and 50% player attitude - I think everyone was quite up for it last night and there was quite a good team spirit. How much of that is down to training next to a girl's team I don't know, I certainly haven't held my stomach in for that long for a while.

Good luck on Sunday and I'll see you all next Wednesday. For what it matters, I did 30 minutes on the cross trainer this morning before work, which is why I was able to piss all over Tony last night in the shuttle runs and catch up for Lewis's cheating...

Thursday, August 04, 2005

I thought training was really good last night; a good mix of things to do helping with fitness and ball work.

Miracle of miracles, I can, at this moment, make the friendly on the 28th! Save me that spot on the bench...
Yeah was good last night. My legs ache a bit this morning, which they haven't done yet since we started back. Feels like its done something which is good, cos i need it! I think i won all those sprints last night! Smurf obviously wanted to punish me too. Im not slow as shit honest! I wont be here for the 28th smurf. Nor the 4th and 18th Sept. Just the two holidays!
Good session last night chaps mixed it about a bit.Just wanted to inform you of the latest friendly information.

14th August Partick Away At Bradfield Southend 10:30
21st August Hermitage Away At Chieveley 10:30
28th August New Team Div2 Away At Henwick 11:00

The new team is a mate of Lewis's and are in Division 2 so not sure what sort of outfit they will be.
Enjoyed that last night, quite satisfying to just twat a ball at a goal for a while, even if you don't actually hit the target or the building behind the target, it's all good practice.

Nice to hear opinions on the friendly too, as most people agreed with each other that on the whole the performance was good and that Miller is going to be a strong addition to the side, not only providing his own assets but bringing some of the best out of Dave too. Fitness is fitness so I wouldn't worry too much about losing shape towards the end.

I've always thought that fitness has too effects - one is obvious, being the ability to get from point A to point B at the same speed you could at the beginning of the game, but the other is the mental aspect of fitness in that when you're body is fagged out your decision making goes to pot meaning, amongst other thing, loss of positional sense (or less positional sense, not as though everyone just starts wandering around in the road).

And I know I won that second sprint last night cos Rob called it but Smurfy wanted to punish me. That's ok I'm an easy target.

See you all next week.

Wednesday, August 03, 2005

Yeah. But I think most other people are going for the fitness as well. My hamstrings are still hurting from the weekend, so I need to stretch them out.
With Burghclere having a game that's half our squad isn't it? Ah well, I'm going anyway, need the fitness.

Tuesday, August 02, 2005

not going to be at training wednesday as burghclere have a game also missing for the 14th as i am going to watch arsenal v newcastle as is silso. Available for the 21st though
Ah I thought it was Partick you played on Sunday. Ah well. All my comments can be disregarded then for those who have not done so already. I like little boys.
Morning Gents here is a latest fixture update 14th August Partick Away @ Bradfield Southend.
21st August Hermitage First Team Away @ Chieveley
Would love to have a strong squad for both of these to see what we are up to.

Monday, August 01, 2005

Smurf, not going to be able to make training on Wednesday as Burghclere have a friendly against the Post office.
Well played yesterday lads ( Against LMP ) We started to knock the ball about well at times but there are a lot of times when we should be doing an easy ball to feet instead of the hopefull punt, the impossible ball or trying to beat to many men.
Im not going to moan though as i was happy with that for our first run out. Some good goals as well with Miller and Lewis looking like they could become a deadly combination up front linking up well,a great finish from Crabbman as well, and an impressive display by Browny at left back.
Dan did well as well by spewing up in the wheelie bin instead of sharing it with everyone. All done well in fairness.
So to sum it up i was pretty happy with it all next game looking to be 14th august against Partick.
Training wednesday night 7pm Northcroft
Fair enough to get a bit tired on the first friendly of the season. Not a bad result though cos Partick even with a weakened team out can be a good side.

Hopefully should spark some good attendances/performances at training now before the season starts properly. I shall endeavour to be there this week after having to pull out at the last minute last week.

Good goals scored or not?
