Sillsy it was weird and I got to see it all from the sidelines rather than actually being involved on the pitch, which must have been weirder.

I turned up a few minutes after kick off and it was a bit end to end but with neither side really troubling either stand-in keeper. Their attacks kept running straight through to Smurf without danger and we were a little limited to longer shots. That said, there was a feeling that we were more dangerous and we were playing more footy in their half than they were in ours.

Then we had a few more dangerous attacks while they didn't and eventually JT fed the ball through to Dave Lewis who's first touch was poor but he changed his plan and fed a nice ball out to Rob instead. Rob travelled a bit and delivered a nice cross which bounced to the far post and Andy Miller hit it at full pelt first time with his left foot up around hip-height. It wasn't an easy finish at all but he caught it perfectly and it flew across the goal into the net. Keeper didn't even move.

Stayed that way to half time and we were looking well worth the lead at that point. Another goal after half time and they'd have fallen apart for sure. Trouble is, they got it. Not long in and their centre midfielder got the ball with time and space but still a long way out. If he'd taken that shot 10 times more he wouldn't have got it on target, but this time it flew very nicely into the top corner. Can't really argue with it, could suggest that we hadn't shut him down quickly enough but that would be being a bit harsh, he just hit it right.

Then shortly after that they had a long ball which we failed to deal with properly and it left their striker with an easy slot past Smurf - bit of a soft goal to be honest - but we responded well to it and nobody let their heads drop.

So we started creating a few chances again, Rob came close, Matt came close and eventually they handled in the box and Dave Lewis smacked the penalty home to draw us level. Felt sure after that that we'd go on and grab a 3rd but they got a corner and their tallest player was unmarked for a free header which he fluked in just under the bar. After that we didn't really have any chances to get an equaliser but the worst part was that although we hadn't played badly at all that they seemed more keen in the latter part of the match - almost as though we'd accepted the loss and were just playing out time. Strange. Could easily have won it, same as the other matches, just haven't...
