Paul's Band Video 3
There's a cameo from Neil Curtis in this one. See if you can spot him.
Paul's band were actually very good and I recommend that you all go and see them.
(Listen out for the singer shouting "TWOOO" after about 20 seconds. He did this when they were sound checking and then once or twice through every song!)

That was much better - 13 of us there tonight and much easier to do decent training when you've got the numbers so it was a better run out than recently as well. And well done to Lewis who won the lap-sprint at the end.
On my turn (I think I was amongst the slowest) I get off to a good start but felt myself flag after 2 or maybe 3 steps. The rest was pretty much agony. I beat an 11 year old though. Get in.

Or knee breaker!
Apparently they are resurfacing Henwicks astro-turf as off next week for 5 weeks - however I play 5v5 up there and they haven't told us it's being stopped for 5 weeks, but one-eye keeps on about the amount of work it's going to create him... So who knows what's going on.
So it might be worth giving Trinity school a call Smurf and seeing if there's available.

Further update on the presentation evening will be given tonight after I've spoken to people at training.
As for friendlies, I know Crabbeman's mate at work has a team who are up for a friendly so he's put him in touch with Smurf to sort out a place/time. I think we're looking at the astroturf at Henwick for that one so it will be quite a gentle friendly which will be a good icebreaker.

As far as I'm aware there aren't any actual dates for arranged friendlies, but Smurf said Partick have asked him for our annual friendly and there was another club interested, but I can't remember who!
As for blogger being replaced by 'facebook' - I hope not because I haven't got a facebook account, and don't really know what it is. I just have loads of invites to join other peoples but can't be arsed to look into it.
Any updates on the presentation night Smurf/Shane?

I think it was throwing in the surfing that got it. I also think that enough people wanted to do stuff that they kind of shared it out so there might be a few people there!
I just read that some guy high up in the Church Of England has said that all the rain recently is God's punishment for new pro-gay laws being introduced. If God is so powerful why didn't he just write "No poofs up here" in the sky or something? He's always got to be so ambiguous about it.
Dunno why he focussed on Sheffield especially. Perhaps he'd just watched The Full Monty.
No sign of the weather improving by Thursday evening either...

Spot on. Sound like a great day was had by all, more importantly husband and wife, who I'd imagine are glad the stress of organising it is over with.
Glad to hear the weather didn't spoil anything as you'd normally expect some decent weather when booking a wedding at the end of June, not a build up of 2 weeks rain! Not that they care now they're off to the Maldives.
The calendar idea is a good one, very unique. What was your winning statement as to why you should go away to the seaside?
The debate of who's going to get married next has been argued to death amongst us lot, and my name has never been mentioned once - unsurprisingly! (The good money is on Lewis, as he's already doing the sit ups to get himself in shape). So if I was next it would come as a bit of a shock. Most of all to my lodger....

It was excellent mate, and JL's a legend, sitting down for a curry and beers the night before his wedding at about 9.45pm...
The weather wasn't too much of an issue in the end. The place they got married was suitable for indoor and outdoor photos and the rain held off enough for some outdoor shots to be taken.
They were both really smiley right throughout (the photo below was probably the saddest they looked all day). Megan's eyes looked a bit "filling up" as she walked up the aisle (as were mine of course). And John apparently filled up a bit during his sister's reading and then definitely filled up during a part of his speech where he was saying how much Megan loves her mum, but he recovered well and saw it through.
I've got a great shot of Megan, in her wedding dress, holding up a big gravy boat full of gravy (they had pie and mushy peas as the wedding meal - it 'were right nice' and very welcome after a few drinks on an empty stomach).
As for funny stories, the DJ got set up and started the tunes and the lights - "Merry Christmas" being projected onto the walls, but I'm not sure many people spotted it. At one point all the guys from the stag trip to Valencia were all up on the dancefloor dancing to the Grange Hill theme tune (an in-joke but it must have looked rather bizarre to the old 'uns).
I think other than that it was a fairly respectable evening. There was some bloke dancing who took his shirt off but most people just kept their distance from him. Johnny Lamb did the MC Hammer "running man" move on the dancefloor for the entire duration of "Unbelievable" by EMF and Cat (John Sills' woman) made one bottle of Bud last from about 5pm through til midnight but still danced like a crazy fool.
The happy couple are off to the Maldives tonight, leaving me sat in a jealous stupour.
John's sister had a really good idea for a wedding actually, for if you're planning one in the near future (with your lodger). On each table for the meal was a calendar of the next 12 months with one activity per month that people could 'bid' for to do with John and Megan (I scoured that list VERY closely) - to 'bid' you just had to write down why you should be chosen, then later on they gave out little slips to say who was going to do what. So in August I get to share a trip to the seaside with them, so was thinking of a Cornwall surfing trip. They both snowboard so hopefully will be able to pick it up easily. Thought the calender thing was a really good idea and I'd not seen it done before.
I'm not gay.

So, your turn next...
Gents - you know how competitive I am. You know that while I like to enjoy the competition, the cut and thrust of the duel and the ebb and flow of sporting adversary, that above all of that I like to win. Fair and square, outright win.
Well this weekend I am proud to say that I finally, and willingly, conceded defeat...
Can't argue with it, he's played a blinder.
Thanks to those of you who sent your messages through, I passed them on to Mr Lamb at the reception.
