It was excellent mate, and JL's a legend, sitting down for a curry and beers the night before his wedding at about 9.45pm...
The weather wasn't too much of an issue in the end. The place they got married was suitable for indoor and outdoor photos and the rain held off enough for some outdoor shots to be taken.
They were both really smiley right throughout (the photo below was probably the saddest they looked all day). Megan's eyes looked a bit "filling up" as she walked up the aisle (as were mine of course). And John apparently filled up a bit during his sister's reading and then definitely filled up during a part of his speech where he was saying how much Megan loves her mum, but he recovered well and saw it through.
I've got a great shot of Megan, in her wedding dress, holding up a big gravy boat full of gravy (they had pie and mushy peas as the wedding meal - it 'were right nice' and very welcome after a few drinks on an empty stomach).
As for funny stories, the DJ got set up and started the tunes and the lights - "Merry Christmas" being projected onto the walls, but I'm not sure many people spotted it. At one point all the guys from the stag trip to Valencia were all up on the dancefloor dancing to the Grange Hill theme tune (an in-joke but it must have looked rather bizarre to the old 'uns).
I think other than that it was a fairly respectable evening. There was some bloke dancing who took his shirt off but most people just kept their distance from him. Johnny Lamb did the MC Hammer "running man" move on the dancefloor for the entire duration of "Unbelievable" by EMF and Cat (John Sills' woman) made one bottle of Bud last from about 5pm through til midnight but still danced like a crazy fool.
The happy couple are off to the Maldives tonight, leaving me sat in a jealous stupour.
John's sister had a really good idea for a wedding actually, for if you're planning one in the near future (with your lodger). On each table for the meal was a calendar of the next 12 months with one activity per month that people could 'bid' for to do with John and Megan (I scoured that list VERY closely) - to 'bid' you just had to write down why you should be chosen, then later on they gave out little slips to say who was going to do what. So in August I get to share a trip to the seaside with them, so was thinking of a Cornwall surfing trip. They both snowboard so hopefully will be able to pick it up easily. Thought the calender thing was a really good idea and I'd not seen it done before.
I'm not gay.
So, your turn next...
