Smurfy and I already have our tickets booked. It'd cost me about that much in petrol and now I don't have to sit in any traffic, or stop to have a piss, or crap myself if the cops see me doing over 100mph with a can of stella in my hand.
Oh, and by the way, the B&B is strictly non-smoking (you get kicked out with no refund if you smoke) but I said I didn't think that would be a problem as none of us are smokers are we? Don't think I've seen anyone lighting up on a night out.

I think Brighton is going to be out of the question - I just talked to that place and all they have available for that weekend is 4 to-a-room ensuites at £45 per person per night. And it's a 2 night minimum so JT would have to pay £90 for a one night stay.
I'd call them wankers but I guess they know they can sell stuff at that price so fair play.
But it leaves us with a dilemma. Ideas on a postcard please...

The paper has the VF Cup final still with Paggies in it. The footy website does as well, and they've not only got linesmen, they've got a 4th official as well!

We started with a 4-4-2 formation but with Matty up front because last time we played this lot (and lost 1-0) they had a very strong midfield who had most of the play. Last time our defence soaked up most attacks so we thought that if we could snuff out the midfield then we'd have the edge.
We started really well, they still looked good when they got the ball to their decent players, but we shut them down very quickly and stuck our feet in to make it uncomfortable for them. Then when we had the ball, we played simple stuff but played it well. It worked really well and you could see them start to get pissed off with each other because they were picking up scraps and chasing shadows. We hit the bar and had a few other chances, so were gutted after about 20 minutes when we lost the ball in midfield, they lumped it forward and their striker reacted fastest and lifted the ball over Smurfy to give them the lead.
But we reacted really well to it, everyone knew we were playing well so it was just a matter of time. We hit the bar again and had a few more chances, played some lovely stuff that had them running around looking lost, then Chris Miller cleared the ball straight up the pitch, route one style for Lewis to latch on to and finish well. That was just a few minutes before half time, good time to score, although we actually then had a chance to score again before half time but their keeper was having a great game.
Everyone was up for it at halftime, even if we'd come in a goal down we were still playing really well. Waggon are a good side and we were dominating. They changed a few things at half time and started quite well in the second half. They had the ball for longer and shifted up the pitch rather than hoofing it up the pitch. Then they got a corner but he's hit it weird and it's swerved a bit and dropped straight in just under the bar. Gutted, but again we reacted really well.
We put Gareth on pretty much on the hour, on the right wing (he's left footed) and we had Macca on the left wing (he's right footed) because it was working well with them running down but then cutting inside. On about his second touch, Gareth's picked the ball up about 30 yards out and instead of doing what he was told, cutting inside, he's just launched it with his right foot. It's flown up into the air, dipped beautifully and dropped right into the top corner. Now their keeper was good, but he was beaten as soon as the ball left Gareth's foot. Great goal.
So that was 2-2. We put Browny on and almost immediately they should have scored again. Nothing to do with Browny though. Macca's played a hospital ball back to Chris Miller inside our box and their bloke's nipped through (could have gone down too) but he's chipped a cross over and their bloke is free, on the edge of hte 6 yard box. Thankfully he's turned out to be shit and has glanced his header rather than get decent contact.
That was their last chance. All the chasing they did in the first half began to show and we were just searching for a winner, attack after attack. Right at the death Lewis has gone through one on one but struck it too well and it's sailed wide, but by then it didn't matter - cos he struck it well the ball flew a long way away which was good enough.
So it finished 2-2. Meaning that's our first home game that we've dropped points and that Waggon are the only team we haven't beaten this season. But the main thing is that the point we did get was the one that means nobody can catch us even if we lose our last 2 games by 100 goals each. We are champions and nobody can catch us. We can build this thing together, standing stones forever, nothing's gonna stop us now. For if the world runs out of lovers, we'll still have each other, nothing's gonna stop us, nothing's gonna stop us now.
Man of the match was JT who didn't put a foot wrong and set up so many attacks by playing simple balls properly. All 3 subs that went on got straight into the game and played sublimely - Andy Miller playing little deft through balls and Browny releasing Dave Lewis a number of times just by using the channels and playing the ball nicely weighted into space. Crabbeman and Adam snuffed out their very talented midfield better than I've seen for a very long time. Lewis kicked each of their defenders at least once around the ears and injured their keeper too (they should have learnt not to get in his way by now surely?). Genghis went on some attacking runs. With the ball.
Seriously, everyone was at the top of their game, just when we really needed it and on another day that could've been a 5 or 6 goal game. But we got what we needed.
We had a penalty competition at the end as well to determine next season's penalty taker. Turns out I can't save penalties for love nor money. Only saved one out of about 25 and that one hurt. Smurfy fared a little better but then began taking his clothes off which I think affected his concentration. Lewis won it in the end, not missing any out of what must have been over 10 penalties. With JT coming in 2nd and winning nothing.
It was a pleasure to watch, to be honest. Waggon are easily the 2nd best team in the league, despite what the table says, and we looked awesome against them.

Irrelevant in the end as I didn't get away in time so there was no shoot out. And no we're not "confirmed" as champions but Q have to pick up a 36 goal difference defecit in 3 matches, 1 of which is against us. Plus if we beat or draw with Waggon on Sunday, or Q fail to beat Shalbourne, then it's all over. Or if we beat or draw with Q when we play them, or if we beat or draw with LMP when we play them, or if Q fail to beat Bucklebury.
So the odds are on our side, it's just not 100% done yet.
The sky is blue due to refraction of light particles through the atmosphere. The light is refracted at a particular frequency which produces the blue light. When the sun is rising or setting, the angle of incidence with the atmosphere causes refraction to occur at a lower frequency, sliding down the visible spectrum, hence the change to red skies.

It's okay to believe me. I'm generally a pretty truthful kind of guy, you just need to watch out for things like APRIL FOOLS DAY and, well that's pretty much it.
If it's coming up to April 1st and I make a statement that you're not sure about, then ask me. I'll never "back it up" if you call me on it, cos that then takes away the fun. So if you ask me if I'm genuine and I ignore you, you're pretty much on to a winner. The 18 yr olds worked it out, it was just you.
So yes, this Thursday we'll be having a penalty competition, although I might be arriving a little late cos I've got a guy coming round to look at my floor. Just looking.
Then on Sunday, depending on who's available or not, we may actually have a team photo taken. This doesn't involve doing/wearing/bringing anything special, as we'll just get everyone in kits where possible and the rest can wear training tops, tracksuits, etc... Be nice to get a shot of everyone together, as I think availability is down then for the final 2 matches.

I might be able to start coming back to training again. Now I'm at Wokingham, they don't do late night Thursdays and everyone is out the door at 5. Even better (and, essentially more important considering my under the thumb existence), Cat has decided to do some Aerobic thing with her friends permanently on Thursdays rather than Tuesdays, meaning guilt free football! In fact, it was Cat's idea (I'm thinking she isn't liking the belly...). I still probable won't be there on Sundays, but its hardy like you need players anyway, given that you have about 25 and you're champions elect...

Isn't the 1980's child-appeasing confectionary called "Waggon Wheel" rather than "Wagon Wheel"?
It appears, like much in the world at the moment, that the confusion is the fault of our American friends. Fatties. "Waggon" is simply the old British spelling of the word, "Wagon" has been used since the yanks thought that it was too difficult to spell and simplified it.
Ironically, that's why you see it more on pub names, as they're trying to emphasise their historical status because American tourists (fat ones) think that old traditional pubs which have been running for hundreds of years aren't going to sell them shit beer and sandwiches with fag-ash on them.

But the conditions levelled the playing field a bit and we had a few chances that would have gone in on another day. So I'm looking forward to going at them again. We'll create chances and know we can limit their chances too.
We're at home so I don't know whether it will be Northcroft or Henwick.

What a day Sillsy. Smurfy gets a phone call from Shalbourne in the morning saying "how many players you got?" - turns out the ref has phoned them up saying that he can't get back from Birmingham in time and they were struggling for squad so asked if one of us could ref it.
So I've ended up reffing the game, they've started with 10 men and within the first 10 minutes have had a guy injured, so we played most of the first half against 9 men.
And we were shit. Dunno whether it was nerves, complacency or the bad pitch but we were quite poor. Went 1-0 up when Smurfy's booted the ball straight down the middle, the bounce has done their centre back and Lewis only needed one touch to steer it past the keeper. We showed glimpses of being good but all in all it was pretty poor.
2nd half started much the same and Shalbourne could sense it. They were back up to 10 players now and built up pressure to the point where they got themselves a penalty to draw level.
After that we had a few more nervous moments but began using the extra man to our advantage using the width and spreading the ball around. They couldn't really contain us then and pretty soon Matty latched on to a through ball and passed the ball into the net to put us ahead. We settled down quite nicely then and had a few good moves before Matty got the ball on the edge of the area, turned his defender a couple of times and then drove a left footer right up into the top corner. I hated being ref at that point cos I couldn't jump around like a cock.
We were all over them by now and Matty had a great chance to grab his hat-trick when Genghis ran the width of the pitch trying to get the ball under control and then flicked a lovely incisor pass through leaving Matty one-one-one but he pulled it wide. Then Miller had a one-on-one chance and again pulled it wide. Then they had an attack and their matey-boy's caught it beautifully on the edge of the area to put them back to 3-2. Browny had just come on. Thankfully Dave Screw was running the show by now and spinning balls out every which way. So within minutes he's pinged a pinpoint cross over for Macca to nip in front of his marker and head the ball home.
That made the final 20 minutes a lot more comfortable than it might have been, though to be fair by now we were looking really good and everyone was on top of their game. Shalbourne had been run ragged in the 2nd half and were knackered and gave up hope. Final whistle went and Shefford were treated to a standing ovation - in that we were all stood up.
Then we had some champagne, then lots of beer, then I got kicked out of Liquid for dealing drugs which, in my opinion, puts me on a par with you getting kicked out for "touching someone's hair".

Game this Sunday is at a ground you'll have some fond memories of - we're away to Shalbourne. We're hoping for a windy day.
Shalbourne had a good result last week so we're not expecting anything other than a tough test - 3 points pretty much hands us the title (Q will be 9 points behind with 3 games to play and way down on goal difference) but if we lose all is not lost, so we're heading out Sunday avo/evening for a big session to celebrate either being Champions or just the fact that we've had a bloody good season so far.
So if you fancy coming to the game let me know and I can either give you directions or where we'll be meeting, and if you fancy coming out for bevvies either straight after the game or in the evening then excellent, go for it, Newbury is your oyster.

It's more exciting at the bottom of the table - Coopers picked up only their 3rd win of the season on Sunday with a big 6-pointer against Meadway, to lift themselves off the bottom spot.
Meadway have just two games left to try and get at least 2 points. They face Bucklebury and Blue Ball. Their only hope is last-game-of-the-season squad fucking-about-with...
Although we beat Coopers by a heavier margin, I remember the two games against Meadway and they are possibly the worst Sunday team I can remember, so maybe they deserve to come bottom. Don't really care.

By the way, I went past Broadways on the way back on Sunday and it's now "The Clocktower Inn" and was open. However there are no games to watch on Sunday afternoon cos it's Easter so there are games Saturday and Monday. Stupid Jesus.

And we've been top since. [And, whatever happens, will be now until the last game of the season, which will be the only time when Q Ass can possibly bump us. Not letting that happen.]

Coupled with Smurfy's info, the table makes for good reading:-
With our 48 points on the board and Smurf's maximum points list below, you can see that we will now finish either 1st or 2nd. You could argue that that means that yesterday's result got us promoted and that we'll be playing Div 1 football next season - and hopefully so - but you just never know how this league is going to go with deciding numbers going up/down, so we just need to stay focussed til it's 100% certain.
Shalbourne had a good result yesterday but we could have beaten Blue Ball by that amount if chances had gone in, plus Shalbourne have to play Q Ass as well before the season's out. But there's no way I can stand having to watch someone else lose for us to win the league again. Grrr.
