The key for this season's training will be agility and having quick feet, as I think that these are the keys to actually becoming better players individually. We play well as a team and will keep getting better the more we play, but individually to be more agile and to have faster feet, that's the aim. I need to work out some training techniques for this, based on the limited equipment that we have (I'm not buying an "Agility Ladder" for £49.00) but I have a recurring dream about a big flight of stairs and you lot running up them. A dream that I did not get to realise last season, so this year may be the one...
Stevie T has broken a rib so has pulled out of Blackpool now too. Which means I'm back on me todd again for the journey up. However, it does mean I don't have to break my journey to pick him up in Thatcham now so I may gain half an hour on it. Nasty roadworks I heard about up Manchester way???
Which ones your clear favorite? The Black and White? That's probably my favourite although I quite like the Blue and Black, it's a bit different to what other teams play in.
Dolphin Divers are situated in Park Way, opposite Victoria Park, and provide the safest and most comprehensive scuba diving training courses I've ever seen and they make it good fun at the same time. Once you're PADI qualified, when you go diving on holiday you'll realise just how well you've been trained when you see other divers thrashing about and generally getting it wrong.
So that's Dolphin Divers, of Newbury, Berkshire, for scuba diving courses, lessons and training, and equipment too.
Just thought I'd mention it while I thought of it.
So I figured we'd get an alternative colour kit, keep using the red and white one this season and then switch next season for a couple of seasons.
Grey I'm wary of cos of the whole 'visibility' thing. Black and white might be okay. I'll find some and post them up on here so we can have a think about em.
Haven't drunk lager for two weeks, so can't wait to get that first sip of the amber nectar on my lips, followed by the whisky chaser...
Black and White/grey sounds ok. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have as little white as possible for cleaning purposes!!
We also need some sort of kit rota, or tick list.... Ok, sounds petty and a bit OTT but the same players end up washing it, and the same players get away with it!!
...and Shane and Mike end up with it about 8 times each a season!!
Stroll on tomorrow, few beers and to get out of this dump...

Afternoon all or just shane! You seem to be about the only person posting on here at the mo. Im driving up on Friday, Probably leaving bout 10 ish depending on what time we can get matty out of bed! As far as i know its matty and ilsley going up with me. Not sure what lewis is doing, last time i spoke to him i think he said he was going up with the ghenginator, But he was asking what time we were leaving so......??? Hope that helps clear up what 3 people are doing. Whats with the low numbers? I just read about sillsy but where is everybody else??
Is anyone stuck for a lift cos Browny has spare space in his car? As far as I'm aware everyone's sorted for getting up there, so Steve and I will see you there sometime in the evening.
No fucking about with the rooms this year cos they're right on the point of selling the place so they'll screw us if we damage anything - and he's too large for me.

1. The link worked for me!
2. Im now going down (up) with Browny and Nigel, so Ill keep an eye on your speedometer for you Browny.
3. Ill be away for the Partick friendly Im afraid. So justs tap-ins will be scored, then.
4. 'Shane and Stevey Tab, sitting in a tree, ...' Shane, your ass will be sore by the time you get to Blackpool. Because of the long period of sitting down, obviously.
5. Bring on Blackpool, bring on the new season, bring on the Gynway, and bring on having a pitch far closer to the changing rooms!
Fin.

Signing on fee for this season to be kept the same as the last two seasons, so £15. Can everyone start filling out and bringing back their signing on forms as I'll need to get you all registered.
Cheers.

Shane no stopping in laybys on the way up and joining in any dogging sessions with Stevie Tab
Won't be making it to training tonight, got a meeting which was meant to start at 4pm and hasn't started yet. But I shall definitely be there next week for the official first training. Plus I may have our first friendly lined up for the Sunday after Blackpool - against the Southampton lot we played earlier in the summer...
Yeah Browny, how's that possible eh? That's 10mph less than the speed limit, you probably got flashed for dithering.
"Do you realise how fast you were going sir?"
"Yes. 108mph"
"Do you have any ID on you at all?"
"Aha..."
Shane I know whats it like to Drive up on your own, I did it last year. left Reading at 6, after 3 hours of sitting at on the M6 in rush hour traffic and a £60 speeding fine for being flashed by a speed camera doing 30mph, in a 40 mph zone on a dual carriage way, 3 points and a big fuck you. I got there at around 12.30. Saw smurf completley out of his tree and Steve and Nigel gyrating with some birds, whilst I was completley sober. So I highly recommend it!!!!
Looks like it's just me on me lonesome then all the way up north, with constant txt messages saying "I'm already here" and "I'm on my 4th pint already" and "where are you? we're all here already..." and so on. Bastards. Will be leaving Southampton at about 1pm, so will expect to get to Blackpool sometime around 10pm...
Anyone seen the Saddam Rock Paper Scissors thing? Funny as...
Bring it on Blackpool. Oh yeah, coupla things - Blackpool is one of the areas highlighted for the 'Anti-social Behaviour Charter' meaning the police have the power to split up groups of people and slap on-the-spot fines on you in the street (don't think these are like parking fines where they physically stick them to you). The other thing is that Janet from the Gynway says she doesn't want any damage to the hotel this year as they're in the middle of selling it - so as we're all a year older and wiser, except John Sills, let's try and be a little more mature while we're in the B&B, cos we'll be too pissed to care later...

That makes 16 of us - I've assumed Craig isn't coming, but only cos I haven't heard that he is - he's obviously more than welcome if he's gonna be signing on for next season. I'm just about to send £160 off to The Gynway for the deposit, so I'll need that money as soon as you can get it to me.

Queens Park Rangers may have difficulty finding the back of the net next season, if their current tour of Scotland is anything to go by.
Where have they gone now?
Boss Ian Holloway decided to put his newly-promoted Championship squad through their paces with a spot of map and compass work.
But he wasn't prepared for what happened next.
Holloway, never short of a word, explained: "I took them orienteering - and two of them got lost!
"We had to go out in a van to get them. I can't tell you who you they are because they are a little embarrassed."

I think the thing with Neil is that he just wants to enjoy his footy, like we all do, but because he wasn't really around with us much last season, has now got himself 50:50 between two bunches of mates who both have footy teams. He just wants to play with his mates, so he's got two options, and each time he goes out with one of the groups of mates he has a good time and can therefore see himself playing happily with them next season. So on Saturday night he had a good time and therefore genuinely wanted to play for us next year. But the next night if he went out with the Banks boys and had a good night I expect he would be swinging back again. The Banks boys are an alright bunch of lads so it's fair enough - not like when Sebbie went to Cold Ash, the muppet.
It would be great to have Neil back, he's already showing at training that missing most of last season hasn't affected his ability in the slightest - so to have him in the squad is a major asset to the club. That said, if he's not happy with us then there's no point forcing someone to play for you, it just drags the whole team morale down.
So to summarise, I really want him to stay, but I'm not going to get pissy with anyone who wants to leave if they're not enjoying themselves. We'll just have to wait and see what decision Neil makes and accept that his decision is completely up to him to make, on his own.
In terms of the rest of the squad, I was dead chuffed with the turn out and atmosphere on Saturday night, even for Dave Frew making it all the way over with the delectable Hannah and not drinking either but still coming across for a while to be a part of it. With Craig coming along as well, Colin back, Newy signing and John Lamb desperate not to be torn away, it should be a good solid season ahead of us. As for promotion, you just never know what other teams will do, but we know we're good enough to match most teams these days - except Partick for some reason.
I'm finished now.
Lewis won Managers Player and Top Scorer
Sills won Most Improved and Goal Of The Season
Smurf won Man Of The Match
Genghis won Clubman
I got an engraved pewter tankard with "Shefford FC Manager" on it
Frew ate Hilly's meal and lived to tell the tale
Hilly spilt beer on Julie and lived to tell the tale
We ended up slightly up on the bill once everyone had paid
Most people went to Liquid and nobody got thrown out or offered jobs
I escaped without too much of a hangover
Smurf and Hilly sat for 30 minutes on the quiz machine at the Canal Bar and finally worked out how to put the money in
Browny bought a massive round in the Bricklayers
Anything else anyone?

Also nice to see me do one nice move at the start of training and then feel my thighs literally turn to jelly at one point while I was chasing Neil.
And finally, nice to be shouted at by 14 year old girls throughout the evening. Beeny you spanner!

Im going to make it all through the night this time and behave myself in the process.
Is Colin coming saturday if so you better warn the Nawab so they can get a fresh order in.
Matt im so looking forward to giving you dead arms and legs not done it for ages.
Im not gona be at training this week, but I will be there next week.
I need to get back in to it, been training alot down the Gym so fitness isnt to bad, Nigel is defiantely coming, although Im not sure what time he finishes work, I will ask crabbeman. I assume he is coming the same time as Dave.
Im gona be in Newbury from about 12 or 1 so if you need a lift John, but going up quite early.

Ive been able to drive since I was 17, but wasnt really much need for it at Uni, I barely left my bedroom let alone the immediate area, but now Cat has graduated as well thought we should get a Car, and her parents are selling us their car (x reg, 28000 on the clock) in a cut price deal.
Johnny Lamb is coming with Megan on sat, staying at Shanes I think. His job is going well, as is his arson addiction.
Is Craig your new best friend or summit? Is he the bloke that started coming training last season, but left for family reasons? Or am I thinking of someone else?
Anyone heard how Jonny L is getting on in Taunton? And if he's coming on Saturday?
It was in the news today, that one kid set another kid on fire in Taunton! Nice move. "You should have stayed with Shefford"
So that leaves me...Im still off work until next week so can easily make it up and back to training, all on my lonesome...so if there are gonna be a good few going I'll come, but if there will only be about 4 then I'll reconsider....
Somebody, please, make a decision for me...
Good to see you back on here Beeny, beginning to think you were dead! I take it your coming on Saturday?
Luckily Lewis managed to stay in his seat.
Sills - Your such an influence on me, I'm going to get the Eidos version of Champ Man as well.
Newbury College I believe are going to be our sponsors again, I might tap them up for an away kit this season, but there is a new contact there so I'm hoping she's fit. I mean I'm hoping she's still keen on sponsoring us. More to come on that.
I've been told by the Nawab that we need to be there at 6pm sharp, so please try your hardest to get there either before then or then on the dot so as to avoid complications! I will try to remember to pick up the trophies tomorrow lunchtime!

How have we all been then? I'm impressed with everything that has gone on in the week I've been sunning my ass. Presentation evening sorted, Blackpool looking promising...I would also like to refer everyone to my post on the 29th June 2004, where I stated that we should go to the Nawab. My influence is growing...Watch out Matt, your place is first to go...
Can't wait to get back to playing football, like Smurf I'm absolutely gagging for it (insert sex reference joke here...). I got desperate on Hols, so took a round-ish rock from the beach and kicked it around the hotel for a bit. I was great. The Walls weren't...
Nigel is def coming on Sat, as is Cat, but both are 90% to be working late so probably wont be joining us until after the meal, so 25 should be spot on.
Are we training tomorrow night? Oh, and Matt, I hope your back gets better, honestly. You make me look good.
Hope the back specialist guy can sort it out. The guy I saw down here certainly helped mine, but mine wasn't as bad as yours. Be a crying shame if it starts to rule you out though, so better to get it sorted and miss pre-season training than to try and struggle through and prolong the pain.
Just been discussing ideas for the ChampMan 5 pitch next week. Be so cool if we get that piece of business.
Text me on Saturday and I'll let you know what we're doing.
I'm seeing a back specialist tonight so hopefully I'll find out what's going on and how it can be fixed, but it's looking very unlikely I'll make the start of pre-season training.

That it? Have I forgotten anyone? Anyone bringing a guest that I haven't got? Anyone not bringing someone who I have put down?
I just realised I counted wrong and there's 27 people there, not 25. Bugger, but shouldn't be a problem...

So thoughts turn to Blackpool. Spoke to Newquay tourist info yesterday and they said we have no chance, and they'd even investigated splitting us all up and having us in different accommodation but even that wasn't possible. So I shall call the Gynway this afternoon and see whether they have rooms free. We'll have to have a think about next year, as it appeared that the only option remaining for us in Newquay was in tents...
No way am I staying in a tent.

Matt you're not coming to Blackpool unless your back's better. Still need your dad's votes btw
The restaurant we went to last year was called the RAJ, it was good but didnt like the table arrangement as I had to look at mike for the whole time, and me and the Mrs had our back to everyone.
Not fussed either way with blackpool or Newquay, same goes for crabeman. Either way its the same time to drive, pretty much same distance. just probably colder.
Blackpool seems like tradition, so if we can't, im sure Cody will make us all feel welcome.
Trying my dam hardest to make training next week, as hours are getting longer.

The half way is a great idea, especially if it has a section we can use away from everyone else... And we'd be giving Mr Cross a few quid in return for the prefect host that's he's been all season. I very much doubt/hope anyone will care about a few quid in a taxi.... Ok, Sills might have to write a cheque.
Going early is a good idea too, regardless where we go! More so if it's in Newbury, otherwise everyone goes there separate ways after the meal which is no fun. That is a major bad point with Newbury there's no late night pubs like there is in Reading.
- One major factor is having it someone where everyone one will go. Shouldn't be a problem as pretty much everyone made it to Reading last year.
I won't be training for a while, my back is still playing up from last season, even after resting it for 2 months. I'm seeing a specialist next week so I'm hoping he'll have some idea on how to fix it.
