Results from this weeks cup games.
Obviously it doesn't affect us but gives us an indication how other teams did against each other and some Premier teams... Although I don't think there's even one surprise result in there!

Yes we won and yes Smurfy pulled off some saves. One in particular that had everyone pinching themselves to see if they were dreaming.
We were down to the bare 11 as there was no Matt, Lewis, Screw or JT and I turned up to be sub but decided to die at the side of the pitch instead, courtesy of some germs picked up at my niece's birthday party the day before.
Bare in mind that Falkland beat Berks Arms 6-0 last week and Berks Arms had beaten us 2-1 the week before. We started quite brightly and Macca put us a goal up early on when he went one on one with the keeper. Then we were 2-0 up shortly after with a lovely passing move that led Macca to fizz the ball across the 6 yard box where Browny had lost his marker and just had to sidefoot it in. Browny then had a one on one but had to take the ball a long way and overcooked it on his way so the keeper could come out and gather it up. We had a few more attacks as well but I missed some of it cos I was in the river.
Then they got one back from a corner but Smurfy held his hands up cos Macca was gonna head it away then Smurfy called for it but couldn't claim it. Left their guy with a tap in, dunno why he wasn't marked.
But we reacted really well and after a few more attacks Macca restored the 2 goal lead - I missed it (in the river again).
Second half again we started brightly and had a few good chances to score but they put a lot of pressure on us. While they saw a lot more of the ball in the second half our defence pretty much soaked them up. I remember one chance that they definitely should have scored but their striker miss hit it terribly. Then with about 10 minutes to go the ball's spilled out from a corner to a guy unmarked about 5 yards outside the box. He's taken one touch and then launched a shot that was cruising into the top corner. As soon as he hit it I was considering sitting Browny back into a 5 man midfield to break them up a bit and stop them getting a 3rd but Smurf's appeared out of nowhere, flying through the skies like a superhero, right hand outstretched like God annointing his subjects and tips the ball over the bar.
Not only did it save us from what would have been a very nervous finish (or worse), but it pretty much showed Falkland that they weren't going to score and we ran out the rest of the game a lot more comfortably.
All in all, we well deserved the win and it could have been by more. A second top quality performance in a row, so typically there's no game this weekend...

For those of you who don't know www.googlism.com - it's a little fun thing that google did where you can put in something and it delivers back existing text from the net that tells you what/who/where stuff is... It's fun for about 2 minutes.
I put in "Smurf" for example and results include...
smurf is back
smurf is slowly going byebye
smurf is the leader of the whole smurf village
smurf is the ringleader of the gang
smurf is in perfect condition; white hat
smurf is da man
smurf is always playing his horn announcing important smurf issues
smurf is actually an obese 43 year old woman
smurf is faster or more maneuverable than the next
smurf is a communist
smurf is probably the most powerful smurf there is
smurf is a bumbling idiot that others have to keep away from any task at hand
smurf is good
smurf is devastating
smurf is determined to fly in the air
smurf is the only smurf in a red uniform
smurf is demanding protection berries
smurf is someone who regularly yet unintentionally screws things up
smurf is battery operated and actually sings
smurf is pretty impressive
smurf is still idle
smurf is one of the best role players in philadelphia and probably in the top five on the east coast
smurf is trapped in his or her own smurfy abode in the middle of his or her own bad dream
I'm bored at work today.

Here's the link to that Football Mitoo site that has all the fixtures and league tables and stuff. Still yet to update the latest scores though grrr....
Falkland (who we play this Sunday) played Berks Arms last Sunday, so it'll give us some random idea of how good they are - though we could have beaten Berks Arms so it probably won't tell us that much unless it's a 7-0 either way.

Well done today gents - great to bounce back with a win and a really strong performance too. I had a feeling we'd apply ourselves well today but thought they might have been a bit strong for us, so it was great to play some really good stuff, look the better team for the full 90 minutes, create a hatful of chances other than the ones we scored and keep a clean sheet too. Can't ask for much more than that.
Another new lot next week with the match against Falkland so it'd be good to go in on the back of a good 90 minutes like that.
